Welcome to our first Prep blog for 2018!

We look forward to sharing how we learn in class.

Mathematics:
Learning Intention: We are learning about Place Value.
Success Criteria: I can do it when I can make, write and compare numbers using ‘tens’ and ‘ones’.
In Maths, we’ve been learning how to make and write numbers by focussing on the ‘tens’ and ‘ones’ place values. This helps us to know that numbers are more than just numerals and that they represent quantities.
For example:
6 ‘ones’ make the number ‘6’ (see image)                1 ‘ten’ and 6 ‘ones’ make the number ‘16’ (see image)

Have a look at how we make and write numbers using tens frames, counters, place value matsand markers. Have a go practising numbers using these materials at home too!
