Physical education is an important part of children’s development.

At Highvale, children in years Prep to 2 participate in Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) which develops their motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination in an active, fun environment. Highvale’s PMP room is a double classroom fully equipped with swinging ropes, trampettes, climbing apparatus and balance beams.

Senior pupils participate in weekly inter-school sport in football, netball, soccer, kickball, rounders, softball, teeball (modified softball) and Newcombe (modified volleyball).

Highvale has annual athletics and swimming sports in which children represent one of four house colors: Banksia, Acacia, Heath and Waratah. Students also enjoy annual inter-school sport in athletics, swimming and cross-country and some are selected to represent Highvale in regional and Victorian competitions.

Clinics and round-robin competitions are held in basketball, football, tennis and soccer.

All children also participate in an annual, intensive two-week swimming tuition program with trained instructors.
