Highvale has an extensive music program which includes classroom teaching, private instrumental tuition and a major school production every second year in which every child performs on stage.
A private teacher instructs about 30 Highvale children in instrumental classes including clarinet, flute, saxophone, keyboard, guitar and piano.
Every second year we hold a whole school musical. The productions involve an enormous amount of work but the school community believes the children benefit greatly by developing self-esteem and confidence. Recent productions have included, ‘Kids at Sea’, ‘Peter Pan’, A Kids Summer Night’s Dream’ and ‘Super Kids’.
Students in Years 3-6 learn to play the recorder. Choir sessions operate on a weekly basis. Various public performances take place throughout the year.
